Lyncourt

Two towns, two permit offices in Lyncourt

Lyncourt is a Census-designated place, not a village, and it straddles a town line: Census 2020 blocks place it partly in the Town of Salina and partly in the Town of DeWitt. Which office issues a permit therefore depends on the town a home is in. On the Salina side, the town’s Office of Planning and Development issues building permits (Salina code, chapter 121); on the Town of DeWitt side, the Department of Development and Operations issues a development permit (DeWitt code, chapter 94).

About 18 percent (margin of error 6 percentage points) of Lyncourt’s 1,865 housing units are in buildings with two to four units, and the median home was built in 1954 (margin of error 3 years; American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates).
